Certapolooza

Travel Volleyball requires each player to be able to help during tournament play.  When the team is not playing they are "working" another game by reffing, line judging, or scorekeeping.  This requires each player to become qualified to "work".  Therefore each player has to become a member of USAV and take three online courses which takes about 3-6 hours which involves watching videos and taking quizzes.  Finally, players then have to prove they know the rules and regulations of reffing a game during what DVC calls Certapolooza.

Certapalooza is a full day of learning how to be an R1(up ref), R2(down ref), line judge, and scorekeeper.  The first half of the day(usually a Saturday) is a lecture by a USAV instructor and the second half of the day is games between the players so other players can practice being a Referee, line judge, and scorekeeper.

At tournaments coaches stay with his or her "working" team to make sure they are performing what they learned correctly.  By the end of the season each player is a pro and confident of their new skills.
